Oh Noes- A Nose Reference by Fyuvix Oh Noes- A Nose Reference by Fyuvix
A reference to all those out there who are having trouble defining their characters, or having a hard time making their characters look different from one another.

Notes On Drawing Noses
I am a strong believer that a character should look definable without hair or clothes; that means, the facial features play an important role. The size and shape of a characters nose can tell as much about the personality as the clothes they wear. So take into consideration the slope of the bridge, the angle of the tip of the nose, the placement of it on the face, and many many other things. For struggling artists, loosen up with Caricatures. You'll have an easier time drawing 'ugly' noses on people you dont' care about instead of scarring your own precious bishis.

XD Feel free to use them and if you find this reference a help, I'd appreciate you linking back to this deviation so others can use it as well Thanks guys!!

Besides the fact that this is immensely helpful, I just like looking at your noses (and lips) to try to guess what kind of character they'd be attached to.

This'll definitely be useful in the future (my noses tend to look very same-y, probably considering I only started drawing noses last year). I'm liking the Pinocchio/Cyrano noses XD

Nice tut, It bugs me when people give their drawings "perfect" noses, your style makes it realistic.

I always love me some hooked-noses (or jew noses). Probably 85% of my characters have one or the other. ROFL~

I think the lips are a bigger help. I always hate drawing those on female characters - sometimes make 'em look fat ><

But these help me a lot, so...thanks!

XD Yay! But ja, I agree with you; In most instances, I find it best to never fully draw the lips all the way around. Just give a slight indication with the lower lip, and do the rest in your shading and coloring stage. Hope that helps! Thanks for the comment
