... because I get sick of people saying "hey, have you seen my stuff? Hey. Have you commented on my art? Hey, check out my art! Hey, what do you think about my art?? How come you never comment on my stuff!?" when they leave nary a comment. Aren't you?

Edit------
Okay apparently people are misreading the stamp. This has nothing to do with faving vs commenting. This also isn't complaining about not receiving enough comments. It is simply saying if you beg for comments, you should try GIVING comments first. Hopefully that clears it up. LoL

lol I agree. I always figured "thanks for the fave" was just a way for them to give themselves a plug on your own page as ways of saying "you should have commented" XDDD

Okay, but what do you do when you give comments and your inbox still collects dust? I've seen livelier graveyards.

Just keep on trying. Network with people of similar interests. Leave convorsational comments, more than just "cool." Invite them to talk with you, but never beg for comments or for them to look at your art. Having a lot in your gallery and a nice avatar will help too.

Gee thanks! I know I may sound like a regular begging rookie, but I am trying and hope to get up there with the big boys one day. :) Or at least be very good at what I do. You know, like a pro! :) Thanks so much for the advice! Do you think I should go avatar hunting?

You're most welcome! Well the best way to get people to see your art, is to make an icon of your art. Personally, I've always been against using icons you didn't draw, especially on an art site. It doesn't have to be flashy, but something iconic that says who you are as an artist, and that is easily readable in the small size given.

As far as getting others to comment back, I've found that just being genuine and commenting heartfelt things often gets a response, and doing it often will sometimes get people to question who is the competent artist behind the comments. I admit, I don't always check out the dA page of who comments on my art the first time they comment, even if its nice. I'll respond often, but it isn't until I see them hang around often, striking up conversations, that I actually go to their gallery to see what their style's like. It takes a bit of patience, but that's networking after all!

Oh really?? I see...I guess artists become more united that way, huh? And that's how it should be! Right? Okay, I'm going to try to think about my comments on DA more often. Actually trying to get to know people a bit more is much more effective and feeling than just randomly and loosely commenting right? Thank you again Fyuvix!

m not trying to be a troll, but is there a certain think that a young artist has to do? like activate something, or join something? What's the secret?

Totally agreed. Commenting a lot makes a big difference.
